A lot of things have happened over that time and I'm here to tell you that whatever hand life deals to you ... you need to keep your positive attitude.

When I last wrote I was looking forward to doing Carly's Elite Program and was hoping to get a job with a Property Development company here on the Gold Coast. Unfortunately circumstances have meant that we can't afford to do the Elite Program (right now at least) and I wasn't successful in obtaining the position that I had my heart set on. I have learned a significant lesson though ... I was so confident that I would get the position that I hadn't bothered doing any more job applications while I was waiting for my second interview and then for the result. This meant that when I finally did find out that the other applicant got the job that I was behind the 8-ball big time!

So ... I missed out on an opportunity that I thought was going to be the best job for me right now. I'm currently applying for a number of different roles that will help me achieve my future goals. This means taking the knocks on the chin and maybe taking something that isn't absolutely perfect but will pay the bills and help me put some money aside to do the things that I want to do further down the track. I am determined to achieve my goals and the easiest way to do this is to break the big goals down into little ones.

Set aside some time each morning to plan your day and what you need to achieve to assist you in getting to your weekly, monthly, yearly and life goals. Anything is achievable if you really want it.

I read something interesting this morning regarding Starting. This is an excerpt from the School of Thinking - Daily Software for the Brain by Michael Hewitt-Gleeson (I highly recommend it ... you can sign up for this free courseware and information at http://www.schoolofthinking.org):

"What is starting?

It can be very difficult to start things. Once you get started there is momentum and feedback but getting started can be difficult. Most races are lost not at the finishing line but at the starting blocks. Why? Because most people never even enter the race! They just never get started. Wasn't it Lao-Tzu who pointed out that all journeys begin with one step."

This is so true of all of us. I personally hate doing housework ... it's not that I'm a lazy so-and-so ... it's just that I'm not motivated to do it. But once I start I'm like a whirlwind and can achieve a lot in a short amount of time. If I started to do a little bit of housework every day (morning is better) then I would have a tidy house pretty much all of the time. If I don't start (in other words ... if I procrastinate) then it's going to take most of my weekend to get the house into order. My weekends are precious to me and I don't want to spend the whole time doing housework. This is my motivation to start doing a little each day and save my weekends for spending time with the family and doing things that we all want to do.

I could go on and on about this subject but I'll cut it short there for today.

Start doing some starting ... you'll be surprised how much it helps =)

Realise your own dreams ...

Realise Your Dreams came about because when I first started looking at ways to get a kick start to becoming wealthy there was so much stuff (I mean, really, a lot!) to wade through. I spent thousands of dollars joining this scheme or that club to try and make my millions and, of course, none of them really worked.

Luckily for me I was determined to find some answers and I stumbled across a book and DVD that changed our lives. Don't tell anyone ... I had that DVD for 5 years before I had the courage to show it to someone else (my beautiful bride) who didn't say, "What are you watching that for ... it won't work". I think the biggest step for me on this path was finding someone who was going to support me in my endeavours and to be a BIG part of it as well!

So, what did we do from there? We made a decision together to TAKE ACTION!!! We were both sick of procrastinating so we did something about it. We knew that if we wanted to get to the place that we dreamed about that we had to make some changes to our lives and the best way to do that was to get an education. Not just any old education but an education for the 21st century. We also found a mentor who could help guide us along the path that we were about to take.

By taking action and getting an education and finding ourselves a mentor we have opened up a whole new world. We have met motivated people who want to share their dreams and support each other on this quest together. We have also learnt a lot about ourselves and where we are currently and, most importantly, where we want to be eventually. We have started a journey of discovery that will be ongoing and we want to drag as many people as we can along for the ride.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and some days I wish that I had started on this path a long time ago. But everything happens for a reason and if I had started 5 years ago I wouldn't have met Susan and I wouldn't be as happy as I am today. We were meant to go on this journey together. So find someone who is going to support you 100% and start your journey together. We will be there to help you if you want our help. Start realising your own dreams today!

Cheers ...

Mick

Try and do it yourself first!

This isn't my first website. I have actually had a presence on the web in some way shape or form since 1996, although my first efforts were fairly crude and rudimentary! I taught myself how to code in HTML and used to get frustrated when things didn't work out as I had first planned. There are two things that can happen when you get frustrated ... you either give up or you persevere and find another way or do some more research or ask the right questions ... whatever you need to do to get the results that you hoped for!

The birth of this website has been a long time coming. I put up a very basic one pager to start with while I was deciding what my next step would be, how I wanted it to look, what content I wanted to add to the site etc. etc. I'm pretty happy with where it is at at this point in time but know that there will always be modifications to be made, updates to do, new content to be added ... but now that the framework is in place it will be much easier.

I highly recommend that if you can find the time to build your website yourself then do it. It's a great learning experience and will give you a solid background on what needs to be done when it comes time to hand the responsibility of your website onto someone else. If the budget is really tight then it also makes good business sense as well. You can 'sell' advertising on your website and turn it from a 'cost centre' into a 'profit centre'. There are also lots of ways that you can promote your website for free and tweaks that you can make to make it more 'findable' on the World Wide Web. Visibility means nothing on the web ... your business needs to be FINDABLE!!!

If you have any questions about what steps you might take to get your business online, please don't hesitate to contact me (Mick@realiseyourdreams.com.au). I won't build your site for you (unless you want to pay the price!) but I can certainly head you in the right direction about how to get started.

Cheers ...

Mick

It's official ... I found out on Tuesday that someone else found out that they had been accepted on Monday and by Wednesday lunchtime I was resigned to the fact that I had probably not been accepted. Wednesday was a busy day for me as I had a job interview and some business to do around the place and I had left my mobile at home.

When I got home I had a message from Steve Fagan congratulating me on being accepted into the program. I was so excited I called Susan straight away and then started worrying about where we were going to come up with the money as we haven't had any money coming in for 6 weeks. So I sat down and did the sums and it was going to be tight ... very tight. So I did what any aspiring entrepeneur would do ... I started working out a deal. I still haven't heard back about the offer we put to Carly as yet ... I'll let you know how we go! Whatever happens, at least I have asked for more which is something Carly tells us to keep doing ... you never know when you will get a YES answer!!! If push comes to shove then there is just enough money available on our credit cards to pay for my tuition even if it does mean that we will be eating baked beans for the next two weeks!

My job interview went really well ... it's for the position of Sales Office Manager for Juniper Developments (one of QLD's largest property developers) working on the Soul project (have a look at it here ... http://www.soul.com.au/). The role will be really challenging but I think working for a business that is doing what we want to do can only accelerate our education. The combination of this job and the Elite program is going to hold me in good stead for our future.

I've been working on a number of things for our business (Realise Property) including business card design (we had an idea to use a green fingerprint on the card to show that we are environmentally conscious and will incorporate eco-friendly design into our development), company structure investigation and networking with real estate agents.

I've also been working on our other business - Realise Your Dreams. This business is promoting courses like Carly's as an Affiliate Marketer and also developing a monthly newsletter for subscribers. Our purpose with this business is to help other like-minded people to achieve their own goals and dreams. Have a look at it here ... http://www.realiseyourdreams.com.au/

Susan has been busy with her work up in Brisbane ... the travel is getting to her a bit but it has been a good opportunity for her to listen to lots of good stuff on her iPod. She has been revisiting some of Jamie McIntyre's homestudy which is very motivating for her and lots of business podcasts from Sky News. She has set up a Self Managed Super Fund with a friend and is in the process of writing an eBook on how to do it. It will be a best seller!!! =) I will see if we can negotiate a discount for all of our forum members when she has finished it ;)

So ... congrats to all those who have been accepted into the Elite program ... I look forward to working closely with you! Any infomation that we are allowed to share with those not doing the Elite program will be available on this forum.

Cheers ...

Mick
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.realiseyourdreams.com.au/2008/08/its-official-ive-been-accepted-into.html' title='It's official ... We came away feeling so motivated and enthusiastic and we met some fantastic people with some sensational ideas. Sorry if we didn't get to meet you at the seminar ... we look forward to getting to know you through the forum and hearing how you are going.

Unfortunately I (Mick) came back to the sunny Gold Coast with a nasty cold which turned into something worse that kept me out of action for most of last week. I did, however, make sure that I did something every day to start working towards our first development ... I have taken action.

HAVE YOU TAKEN ACTION TODAY???

Even if it was only something small we made sure that we did something every day. Another thing that we do every day is tell each other 5 things that we are grateful for each morning. Doing this first thing gives you such as positive start to the day!

There are so many things to do but they are getting done slowly but surely. Setting up this forum and getting feedback on whether there is interest in a regular newsletter are really important to me. I have been to a number of seminars where there was high energy but for whatever reason it seemed to get lost straight after the event. I am determined to keep the unbelievable energy that was in that room for the whole 3 days pushing all of us to get to where we are going. It doesn't matter what your destination is ... we can all go on the journey together. Each person's wins will help motivate all of us.

So ... stay motivated. Keep doing something every day no matter how small. TAKE ACTION!!!

Cheers ...

Mick
